RE: Hook up by yourself devices?

My other have and I use "My way" "Your Way" system. I stand on the passenger side of the tong and we open the back tailgate door of the SUV. I say my way or your way depending if he needs to go left or right.
When he is back up the trailer into a site (which he is getting very good at) I some times say "Make that ass end of the truck go this (or that) way". That normally gets him right in the spot he wants to be in.
(I can't lie, there are some times where I think we should be handing out ear plugs to the surrounding children because words have been known to fly)

RE: 2008 Aerolite Cob 185

I just spoke to Bob and he has made one set of gizmo's some time last year.
He said it's possible but I will need to send him the measurements, which I will be doing onces we get back from Manitoulin Island.
I want them mostly because our tenting is starting to get stained (evils of white tenting I guess).

RE: 2008 Aerolite Cob 185

Ok, firstly, I have no idea what you are talking about when you mention bunk end gizmos. I went to the PDF, went to page three, and nadda. I have a 2008 Cub with the Therma rest ends, and just pop it out and make the beds..am I missing something here LOL!?
if you want to click on the link that misterd had posted, you can find out all about them.
a lot of hybrid owners cover their canvas bunk ends with popup gizmos or the non-custom version, solar blankets(from REI, Cabelas, Campmor).
these provide a number of advantages. they primarily help with the bunk end temperatures, hot or cold. they also help keep the canvas/vinyl clean and stain-free. they also help darken the end for afternoon naps.
what's being asked is: can these new Thermarest bunks use them, because of their different design. the regular style bunks are similar to those on popups. therefore, the custom-fitted popup gizmos or solar blankets will work on hybrids.
Naps - this post is the reason why I called the guy again... Naps are what camping is all about :Z ;)

RE: 2008 Aerolite Cob 185

So we just got home with the new trailer and we LOVE it. Not to happy with the dealership.
It's a long story and I am still to mad to talk about it, but I wouldn't recommend Heidi's RV Superstore to ANYONE, not even my worst enemy.
That is too bad about Heidi's, Elizabeth. That is where we bought our trailer and we had nothing but great things to say about this dealership. Any problem we have had, they fixed right away and the service staff were wonderful to deal with.
Hopefully things will not require you to have to go there to much. Have fun camping, that is all that counts.
They were HORRIBLE. Just for exsample. When we purchased our 280 Pony from Georgetown RV we had a 2 hour walk thru, with Hiedi's I it was about 15 minutes.
They asked us to be at thier service centre at 8 am (we were driving from Burlington). We showed up at 7:45 as to not hold anyone up... We didn't get the trailer until after noon. We ended up taking out our camping chairs and setting them up in the parking lot. We just sat there and watch the trailer (which apparently was being cleaned, but unless they had mini elves that can not be seen with the naked eye....) We also sat there and listened to our three dogs (one old and blind) bark because they took our TV into their service department before we had a chance to take the dogs out. The dogs sat in thier crates and barked from 8 am to almost 1 pm. They wouldn't let us in the service department (which I understand) to get the dogs. The oldest one was shaking for the rest of the weekend and couldn't settle down.
We camped at thier campground for the whole weekend and not once did some one come to say Hi and see if we had any quesitons. It would have been a nice way to close the sale BECAUSE WE HAD TONS OF QUESTIONS.
Oh, and lets not forget that they didn't have our ownership ready that day so they said they would mail it. Three weeks later I called to see where it was, and sure enought, it was on a random clip board waiting to be put in the "out" box.
I could go on, and on, and on... and I am sure my grammer and spelling for this post is horrible because I am still that mad.
I have contact a local Thor dealer (but doesn't have the Cub line) and they will be more then happy to handle our warranty work if there is any. I guess they understand that almost ever RV'er will upgrade at some point. I guess Hiedi's doesn't seem to care.

RE: 2008 Aerolite Cob 185

Be interested to hear if water pools where the tent top jons the trailer body. From the pictures it looks like the water runs from the tent to the trailer.
Since we started camping early may of this year every weekend had rained.
The first weekend we had the cub it rained the whole three days. No water pooling.
I am sure it will rain agian this weekend, so I will double check.

RE: First trip and ALL RAIN

Our first camping trip was May 5th and every weekend since that I have gone camping it has rained.
That lovely sound of the rain hitting the canvas, isn't so lovely anymore... I am really starting to hate it.
(And this weekend I am going up North to a cottage for a Stagette... guess what??? rain is in the forecast).

RE: Bunk Ends and Falling Kids

(I don’t have children but I have three small dogs)
When my boyfriend and I started looking at PUPs last winter I would always look at the bunk ends to see how secure they were. One time when my family was camping we had four 3 month old puppies with us (they bred OESD at the time), all four got out one night and the four of us (Mom, Dad Sister and I) we out in our PJ’s at 3 in the morning roaming around the CG looking for the dogs. All four came back to us safe and sound.
I think I recall getting a Shasta TT the next weekend.
(Really it was my parents own fault – who takes four puppies, two full grown dogs and two kids under ten camping in an 10 foot tent trailer??? They were asking for trouble).

Replacing Stereo & Outdoor Speakers on 2008 Aerolite Cub

So my boyfriend and his friends are back from their “Mans Weekend” in Montreal. They all loved the trailer and had a great time. The only thing that the BF had to complain about was the outdoor speakers. Apparently they suck.
We have already started looking at new stereo units. Growing up with boys and their car stereos I know what brands are good and which ones to stay away from. Our current stereo has a button on it that lets us choose from three options, inside speakers, outside speakers, or both (indoor and outdoor). When we replace our stereo will we still have these options?
Now the outdoor speakers… Our speakers seem to be under a cover of some sort. Is that in fact a cover or is that white bubble thing the speaker? When going out and looking at new speakers do we need to find outdoor speakers or well the new ones just fit under these cover thingy?
I was thinking about maybe going to a car stereo place (like Radioactive in Burlington) to see if they would do the install (they have great customer service and pretty good prices). Do you think that it’s needed or is this something that the BF and I can do ourselves?

RE: Starcraft Linoleum Flooring

I am not sure if there is special flooring or not (but I don't think so). I just want to make a suggestion. Check out the Allure flooring by Traffic Master at Home Depot. It is great stuff (we have it in the house) and you can get it in tile look or hardwood look. It's really easy to install. We installed it in our mud room and kitchen.

RE: 3 Dogs and one 8 foot Tent Trailer - Advise

Another Update :B
We got the hybrid last weekend and the dogs LOVE IT. They have a sofa just like at home. They loved being able to lay there or pop their heads up to watch the world go by, and boy were they behaved. It was like we had other people’s dogs with us.
They all settled down so much faster then the weekend before. They didn’t bark at passers by as much and they really seemed to just love the whole experience. They were lying in the sun just hanging out. It was totally lovely. Even little blind Eddie seemed to settle and understand where she was.
I am just so happy that they are getting the hang of camping. They are getting so much fresh air and exercise.
Thank you to everyone for your great advice. We have taken it all in and it is completely paying off.

RE: Pets in PP of Ontario

We travel with three dogs. They are ALWAYS leashed or in an X-Pen. We also have muzzles on hand for all three just incase they start to bark.
We understand that we are not the only people on the campground and that others want to relax and have a nice weekend just as much as we do.
Side Note: In more cases they only bark when a kid comes running onto our site to pet the dogs (leash rule should apply to some children in our eyes) or if one of those "my dog doesn't wonder" dogs come onto our site, and then who gets blamed............. you guessed it, our dogs.

RE: Pros and Cons of Fold outs

Since some are compairing the HTT to a PUP I will add my 2 cents.
My BF and I are planning on a 2 week trip to the Maritimes next year which may involve some one night stop overs.
In the Hybrid we can either just “turtle” or just put the one bunk down or set it up completely because it takes a fraction of the time compared to a PUP.
In our eyes one night stay were really unrealistic in a tent trailer. There is just too much work involved just to get to the beds (although you can keep the beds made in a PUP, but that’s the only plus in our eyes).

RE: Kodiak/Aerolite Auto-pop dome ends

We aswell notice condensation, more then I was expecting, but it was cold outside and since I was sick with a cold I had the furnace on and an electric heater running. I just lifted the mattress, turned the bunk fan on and it was all dry in a short period of time.
We liked to new style bunk ends because we are taller people (BF is 6’4” and I am 5’10”). The headroom was a great selling feature. We do find them very easy to set up and take down. But with that being said this is our first season camping, and we only camped with a PUP for two weekends before upgrading to a HTT, so I have no really frame of reference.
When we picked up the trailer and had our very short walk thru a service guy (not a sales guy) showed us all the new upgrades that Thor did for the 2008 models to prevent leaking. He seemed very excited and kept saying that we purchased a good “little” trailer (who’s he calling little). Again, this was the service guy that just installed our Anit-Sway and WDH and was in the middle of putting on a new battery and not a salesperson, he had no reason to lie or exaggerate.
So far we are happy with our purchase (except for our dealer but that’s a very long story :M ). I will however have to agree that the mattress SUCK and we will be upgrading at some point, and it is a little weird that you can’t open the main windows from the inside :h .
All in all I give it 4 campfires out of five.
